About Us
West Midlands County Schools' FA is dedicated to promoting football within the West Midlands county schools. Our mission is to provide a platform for young talents to showcase their skills and passion for the game by representing their school and District.
A Brief History
The West Midlands Metropolitan County SFA was formed in 1975, but its origins go back to 1911 when Birmingham and District Schools’ F.A. was formed. This body organised competitions which were separate to those organised by the three counties - Staffordshire, Warwickshire and Worcestershire - which covered the area at that time.
The formation of the West Midlands Metropolitan County Council stimulated the creation of the County Schools’ F.A. The original number of members was 12 secondary associations, 2 primary associations and 5 associations from outside the new county who became associate members. These numbers have grown until now there are 5 secondary and 7 all-age associations, 8 primary associations and 9 associate members.
The County covers an area of some 600 square miles encompassing 7 local authorities amounting to over 1,500 schools including those of associate members. It has been estimated that there are approximately a million schoolchildren within the WestMidlands area. The County badge shows the four areas covered by the original Birmingham and District Schools’ F.A. and now part of the West Midlands Metropolitan County Association. The badge includes the Staffordshire Knot, the Bear of Warwickshire, the Pears of Worcestershire and the emblem of the City of Birmingham.
